Helpful Tips For Planning A Holiday Wedding

The holidays are coming, and so is engagement season! Well, technically, it officially begins with Thanksgiving and ends around Valentine's Day, so it's happening right now! Many couples spend about a year wedding planning, which means that many newly engaged couples may be planning to get married during the holidays next year. Brides of America has some helpful advice for these brides & grooms.

Embrace the Season
You can pull a lot of inspiration from the wonderful celebrations that happen in the month of December. The colors, flavors, and natural decor of the season offer a lot of ideas to borrow from. While you want your guests to feel like they are at a wedding rather than a regular holiday party, it's okay to add in a few traditions here and there.

Favors can be wrapped like presents with pretty papers and fancy bows. You signature drinks can incorporate cranberry, apple cider, or even hot chocolate. Lots and lots of greenery will save you money on florals and fit right in with the look and feel of the season.

Holiday Color Inspiration
Red is a very popular color to use during the month of December, and it can be paired beautifully with white or green. A cooler blue and shiny silver is also gorgeous, very reminiscent of a winter wonderland.

This year, Brides of America is noticing a lot less red and green and a lot more blush and eggplant. It is a very sophisticated, earthly color palette, reminding us of classic holidays of the past. Our personal experience with this trend comes from the many beautiful bridesmaid dresses that are being chosen by bridal parties at our Miami bridal boutique.

Save-The-Dates Are A Must
One very important thing that you must do when planning a holiday wedding is to let your guests know about it early. The more notice that they have, the more likely they will be able to work your wedding into their busy holiday schedule. If they will be visiting from out of town, booking travel arrangements early might help them to save a little on those holiday travel price increases.

Realize That Holidays Are Busy
Even with plenty of advance notice, realize going into your planning that some of your guests may already have too many family activities and annual holiday events to attend. This means that your guest count may be lower than it would be at another time of the year.

Not only may your guests be busier than usual, but so will your wedding vendors. Venues tend to book up quickly because of the increased amount of parties being thrown this time of year. Many of those celebrations use the same vendors that you will hire for your wedding, and the high demand often means that those vendors' prices go up.
