6 Tasks To Take Care Of As Soon As You Get Engaged

He asked and you said yes... but now what? There is a lot of wedding planning to get underway, but that can wait a little while. First things first, the following list of things from Brides Of America should be taken care of before you worry about all of that other stuff.

Immediately after the engagement...

#1 - Celebrate Together
This is an exciting moment, but there's no need to share it with the world right away. (Unless, of course, it's a public proposal. Then the cat's already out of the bag!) Take as much time as you want, an hour, a day, or even more, to simply enjoy the fact that you love each other and are ready to share the rest of your lives together. Do a little daydreaming about the big day, as well as the "happily ever after." Everyone else will find out soon enough, but right now is all for the two of you!

#2 - Get Those Nails Done!
It's time to schedule a manicure so that you can start telling everyone about the engagement. Why, you may ask? Because the first thing everyone is going to want to do, after squeals of delight and loving hugs, is to see that ring!

#3 - Share The Great News
When you are ready to share the news with the world, start with those that are nearest and dearest to you. Your family and best friends may be hurt if they find out from someone else. Make sure the are in the loop, then feel free to blast it all over social media and shout if from the rooftops.

Soon after the engagement...

#4 - Start A Wedding Binder
With wedding on the brain, you are going to start seeing great ideas everywhere that you like. Designate a special binder or start an online notebook to keep track of all of these wonderful ideas. When you're ready to make decisions, you'll be glad that you have everything together in one place.

#5 - Schedule Engagement Photos
There's really no big rush to get these done, unless it's going to be a short engagement. Still, the earlier you have the photos taken and back from the photographer, the sooner you'll have them to use for save-the-dates and your wedding website. Plus, it's always fun to have a professional capture your love and excitement about the upcoming wedding on film.

#6 - Draft A Guest List
Not always the most fun task, but the size of the guest list will determine the size of venue you will need, plus it will have an affect your budget. It will most likely go through a few drafts before you get a final list together, so start early.

Those tasks will get you started. Once the excitement has died down a little bit (because it's not going away completely any time soon!) you can begin focusing on a wedding planning checklist. Keep an eye out for your favorite bridal gown styles, and then give us a call to make an appointment at our wedding dress store in Miami to begin trying a few on. Brides of America's goal is to offer the best wedding dresses in Miami as well as online, along with the other fashions and accessories to go along with every bride's special day.

P.S. Today marks our 100th blog in our series! Thanks to all who've inspired us to continue sharing our expertise with you!

Wedding Dresses Come In Many Shades of "White"

To the untrained eye, most wedding dresses are thought to be white. In reality, what your guests see as "white" is most likely another color, or rather a different shade of a classic white. Our bridal boutique in Miami, as well as our online wedding dress store, feature an array of exquisite bridal gowns in many different shades to compliment any woman's skin coloring and bring out her natural beauty on the wedding day.

White on the left, and ivory on the right

Brides of America is here to help you find the wedding dress that looks amazing on you, and sometimes the color of the gown plays a huge part in the one that looks the best. White, ivory, and champagne colored dresses can look very similar from a distance, but they each have their own special qualities.

Back in the 1980's, nearly every single wedding dress sold was made with white fabric. No one was interested in an ivory bridal gown, but this is mainly because in the '80's ivory had a very yellow tint to it.

Eventually, designers began using an ivory that was much softer and more pleasant to the eye. In the 1990's, bridal gown sales changed and nearly half of the dresses being purchased were ivory, and the other half were white.

from left to right: ivory,  ivory-blush,  & ivory-champagne

Currently, those numbers have shifted even more. The women that shop in our wedding dress store in South Florida are more interested in ivory gowns, or combinations of ivory and another similar color. About 50% of the wedding dresses sold by Brides of America are ivory, 40% of them are either ivory/gold, ivory/champagne, or ivory caramel, and only 10% of our brides choose to wear actual white.

When you come in for your wedding dress shopping appointment, the talented consultants at our Miami bridal boutique can help you narrow down which shades look the best on your particular skin-tone, as well as which shapes and styles flatter your body the most. Our goal is for you to have that magical moment when you look in the mirror wearing the bridal gown that was made to be worn by you and know, without a doubt, that it is "the one!"

Give Brides of America a call at 305-620-6606 so that we can book your appointment, or you may also request a time through our website. You will have our undivided attention the entire time you are here. Since we are a "by appointment only" store, there will be no one else interrupting the shopping time that we have set aside especially for you. Together, we will find that wedding dress you've been dreaming of!

Gorgeous Wedding Dresses With Ruffles & Layers

Every bride that comes into our Miami bridal boutique has her own type of personal style, but we do tend to see patterns of styles adored by many from time to time. Lately, Brides of America has noticed a lot of customers favoring bridal gowns with lots of layers and ruffles.

Recently, we had one of the busiest weekends ever at our wedding dress store in Miami, and believe it or not, every single dress that we sold over those couple of days had ruffles and layered skirts. It's really no surprise to us, because we have been receiving a lot of requests for these types of bridal gowns before the women come in for their shopping appointment.

David Abadi, owner of Brides of America, says, "The 1980's looks seems to be making a comeback, and I really feel like this trend will be around for a while. I love, love, LOVE the new bridal collections from Morilee that have lots of layers and plenty of ruffles.

This type of wedding dress style is perfect for the lady that wants to playfully bounce down the aisle, and to whirl and swirl around the dance floor at her reception. There is a fun element to putting on a gown full of ruffles or layers, and when the two are combined in one dress, the look it creates is amazing! You can look and feel young and lighthearted while still appearing graceful and beautiful.

Brides also seem to have less interest in the bright white gowns lately. They are most often asking for ivory/champagne, ivory/caramel, and ivory/gold wedding dresses. Different shades can come together in one gown to create a stunning design that any bride would be thrilled to walk down the aisle in.

If these wedding dresses in today's blog look like what you have been envisioning for your own dream wedding, then you need to make an appointment to come in and try some of them on at our bridal gown store in Miami. You can also find many of these styles and more like them from Morilee in our online wedding dress store

On the other hand, if you have something completely different in mind, we can still help you out too. Brides of America carries a wide variety of every wedding dress style imaginable, all from the amazing design house of Morilee. Let us know what type of dress that you have in mind and we will help you find it.

Real Wedding: Daylan & Bonita Hall

Our very favorite thing to do at our wedding dress store in Miami is to help brides find the gown that looks and feels as if it were made especially for them. Our next favorite thing is getting to see just how amazing they look on the wedding day through the photos and videos that are shared with Brides of America

Today, we get to share some fabulous photographs, as well as a wedding video, from the ceremony and reception of Mr. & Mrs. Daylan and Bonita Hall. This adorable couple met at the counter of a Steak and Shake when Daylan came in for a quick lunch with a coworker. He caught sight of Bonita and he knew he had just seen his future wife. Once their eyes locked, the journey to the altar had begun.

After phone calls to get to know each other and many wonderful dates, they became engaged. The story of their love culminated in Dania Beach, Florida on January 9, 2016 when they were married at South Florida's Gallery of Amazing Things.

We were absolutely thrilled when Bonita chose Brides of America to search for the perfect wedding dress, and even happier when she found it! She chose a stunning wedding dress from Morilee (style #2685) that featured intricate lace, exquisite beading, and incredible detail to every stitch.

The Alencon lace of the fitted bodice on this elegant bridal gown flows beautifully into cascading layers of ruffled organza. The exquisite beading around the sweetheart neckline and above the skirt, plus the covered button details down the back, add to the sheer elegance of this dress. Bonita also chose to add an amazing bridal belt and elaborately beaded yoke around her shoulders to elevate her wedding day look to the next level.

We want to thank Bonita and Daylan for sharing their fantastic wedding with us, and also for letting Brides of America be a part of this very special day. Everyone looked absolutely amazing!

If you are on the hunt for your perfect wedding dress, make an appointment at our Miami bridal boutique to try on our incredible Morilee bridal fashions. We can dress you, your bridesmaids, and even the mothers of the bride and groom. Your dream wedding dress is waiting here for you, and we can't wait to help you find it!
