7 Wedding Planning Tips to Help You Stress Less

A lot of work and thought goes into planning a wedding.  The key to doing it all in a productive way is to avoid as much stress as possible.  Our wedding dress store in Miami will make sure that you are spoiled and treated like royalty while you are shopping for your wedding gown, but you've still got a lot to do after that task is complete.  Brides of America has a few tips to keep your stress levels at a minimum and hopefully help you to enjoy the entire wedding planning process along the way.

Work as a team.
It takes two people to make a marriage, and you should both have some input when you make the wedding too.  This is an event in honor of the two of you. Incorporating the things that both of you like will make for a better celebration, and sharing the tasks for making it happen will make for a much more relaxed couple. Use your vendors as teammates too.  You did your research and hired professionals that you trust, so use their advice.  It will help you to avoid a lot of easily-made mistakes.

Keep ideas & lists in one spot.
A wedding planning notebook is your new best friend.  It can be an actual notebook full of papers and notes to yourself, or a virtual one that you keep track of on your computer or tablet.  Whichever method is simplest for you, go with that.  Having all of your ideas, inspirations, appointments, checklists, etc... in one place saves you a lot of time.  This can help you to stay on track with your planning, and it's easy to grab & go when you head out to dress shop or meet with vendors.

Don't procrastinate.
Even though you may begin planning a year or more in advance, that wedding day will be here before you know it.  Don't push off completing tasks.  Putting them off doesn't make them any easier, but it does add to your stress later on when you begin running out of time.  If you find yourself with a little free time, pull out that wedding planning notebook and find a small item that can be done in the time that you have.  Call & schedule an appointment, narrow down your invitation choices, or add to the list of songs to be played.  Finishing these quick tasks will feel great and take away from what you have left on your to-do list.

Take time off.
If you spend an entire year living, breathing, thinking, and talking only weddings, it will slowly become a nuisance rather than a joy.  At least once a week, plan a non-wedding-related activity.  Go out for date night, sit on the couch and watch a movie marathon, or go for a walk in the park.  The only rule is that all wedding topics are off limits for a few hours.  After having a little fun, you'll be ready to tackle another section of your wedding planning checklist.

Avoid last-minute impulse buys.

This is the quickest way to go over-budget on a wedding.  Procrastination can cause you to rush around last-minute for this & that, often spending more because you are in a hurry and not looking at prices.  Also, those inexpensive favors you saw at the store that you think you have to have can add up quickly after you order a couple hundred of them.  Go home first, look over your budget, and decide if they are cute enough to fit into that budget.  Once you leave the store, they may not seem as important.  Out of sight, out of mind.  If you find yourself thinking back about them often, then make some room in your budget and go for it.

Do what makes you happy.
You will have a lot of people giving you their opinions.  After a while, all of the "...and this is how I would do it..." comments can really start to rub you the wrong way.  Slow down, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that they most likely meant well.  Let the advice in one ear, and if it's something you don't agree with, put it right back out of your head.  This is your day, not theirs, and the way that you want something to happen is the right way to do it.

Always remember to HAVE FUN!

A good friend of ours always says, "If you're not having fun, then you're doing it wrong!"  Your wedding should be one of the happiest days of your life.  There is absolutely no reason that the planning for it should be one of the worst times that you remember.  Keep in mind that this is all happening so that you can spend the rest of your life with someone that you truly love.  There's no better feeling than that.  Stay focused on that fact and let yourself have fun with the entire wedding planning process.

Wedding planning takes a lot of work and some stress will seep it's way in.  Follow the tips above and the amount of stress that you must endure will be greatly lessened.  Brides of America has been around through many weddings over the years.  If you are needing a little bit of help, ask away.  There's a good chance we may know the answer, and if not, then we can definitely point you in the direction of someone that does.  The best wedding dress store in Miami wants to make sure that you only have fond memories of everything involved with your wedding.
